A Monett man was injured at 4:50 a.m. today when his pickup was struck by a train. Justin Hicks, 22, was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital, Springfield. His condition wasnt available. Monett police report the accident happened at the Burlington Northern crossing on South Chappell Drive. The crossing has two sets of tracks and a westbound train had just cleared the crossing. The crossing arms were down and the signals were activated because an eastbound train was approaching. A car, then Hicks pickup, went around the crossing arms and into the path of the train. The car made it through the crossing, but the train struck the pickup on its passenger side.
