A Note from Mrs. Sill about Mercys Fall Play: Dear Mercy - TopicsExpress

A Note from Mrs. Sill about Mercys Fall Play: Dear Mercy Alumnae, Mercy High School’s Performing Arts Department cordially invites you to the fall play Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town.” Synopsis: Thornton Wilder’s masterpiece about small town celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, “Our Town,” is the tender and romantic recollection of life in a New Hampshire village. It is the immortal tale of small-town immortality as seen through the Webbs and Gibbs families. This classic story follows the lives of George Gibbs and Emily Webb as they experience Daily Life (Act I), Love and Marriage (Act II), and Death (Act III). This celebration of life will make everyone appreciate the simple things and the people who affect them daily. This is a beautiful and heart-wrenching show about what is really important in life. As many of you know, it is my own personal favorite play for the lessons it teaches us about how to live our lives. The show includes a cast of 30 students with boys from Catholic Central High School, U of D Jesuit High School and Power Upper Elementary School as well as a crew of 37 girls. We invite all alums back to see this show that will awaken your sensibilities about your life and the people in it. The cast has worked extremely hard to bring this masterpiece of American Literature to the stage. We encourage the previous casts of “Our Town” (1988, 1995 and 2002) to come home and reminisce about your time on the Mercy stage. Please spread the word to everyone you know by word of mouth, or by forwarding this note to your Mercy friends. Tickets: The show is set for Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 and are on sale now at school or may be purchased at the Box Office the evening of the performance. The Box Office will open 30 minutes before curtain and seating is by general admission. We promise you a memorable evening. So, “come home to Mercy” once again and relive your high school years. Whether you were in the cast, worked behind the scenes, or supported us by attending the shows, we’d love to have you join us and “take a seat” in our beloved auditorium. As always, we (technical director Mrs. Anne Sill Eddy ’98 and I) will all be at the back of the auditorium after each performance to greet old friends. If you have any questions or just want to drop a note, please e-mail us at [email protected]. Thank you and we hope we see you there. We will touch you with a heart-warming and heart-wrenching story of our time here on earth. Mrs. Kathy Sill Director of “Our Town”
