A QUESTION OF CONTROL……. Once Muslims can think for themselves what is right and what is wrong, why would they listen to the clerics, the ulamas who make a living pronouncing what is right or wrong, what is permissible and what is legal in Islam? What good is a shepherd without his flock? And since they cant argue with the facts, they resort to name-calling, and saying it is against the Imam Shafie school of jurisprudence that is the dominant denomination in Malaysia. They vilify, demonise, declare apostasy and do about everything but debate for the simple reason they want to browbeat Muslims to submit not just to Islam but also to them. Islam is not under threat in this country. Neither are Muslims. There is nothing to fear from liberalism, pluralism, Jews or Christians if you are strong in your faith. The only ones under threat are the clerics or ulamas in Malaysia. They have no reason to exist or draw pay from public funds if no one listens to them.
