A Quick Note about Fundraising As a diverse PTA Executive - TopicsExpress

A Quick Note about Fundraising As a diverse PTA Executive Board, we represent every single neighborhood that attends Shafer Elementary. As such, we understand many parents are concerned about the impending split of Shafer Elementary with the new elementary in Cross Creek Ranch. With this, brings conflicted feeling about whether or not to participate in fundraising efforts at our kids’ current school. Your PTA board is very aware of this, and as such is committed to making sure all funds raised from efforts this Fall will be spent on programs for the current students this school year first. In the event funds are left over from these efforts at the end of the year, those funds will be divided in proportion to the number of students transferring to the new school to help fund the initial start-up of the new parent support group there. Additionally, funds raised from the Spring Carnival in March will also be divided up proportionately as a gift to the new parent support group.* *Gifts from PTAs to new parent support groups have historically been nominal (less than $1,000); however, Shafer PTA was very fortunate to have received a very substantial gift of $11,000 from Stanley Elementary PTA when our students split from their school. We would like to continue to pay this kind gesture forward and help support the new school for our current students. Please keep this in mind when considering whether or not to continue supporting fundraising efforts here. Shafer PTA is working hard to continue to provide worthwhile programs and support to the school for this school year. If you have any questions at all regarding our fundraising efforts, please feel free to contact any of the Executive Board members and attend our next General Membership meeting on December 19. We appreciate your continued support. ~ Shafer Elementary PTA
