A Soviet book on self -education (by V.I. Ruviinsky) has outlined four aspects of improving (self-educating) yourself : 1. Willpower- the more you exercise your will, daily, the more it strengthens. 2. Morality- the more you choose to act according to accepted Moral principles the more you grow. 3. Intellectuality : The more you read selected texts, the more you think rationally about things, the more you exercise your intellect, the more you improve. 4. Aesthetically -The more you read good literature, listen to quality music, study art etc. the more you fine tune your aesthetic sense. Importantly the Soviet author was quick to point out that every working man/ woman is capable of and should engage in such self education both during the performing of his duties and labours (which indeed is the Laboratory where you put your knowledge to use and test it ) and after work study. Also, age is no barrier--it is a game from cradle to grave ! And an American author,M. Scott Peck, has suggested that the best form of psychotherapy is to engage in socially useful work and to extend oneself for the growth of oneself or another.
