A Star Leads Three Wise Men from the Eastern Lands! When infant Jesus was born on a cold December night at a cow-shed of an inn in Bethlehem, an angel of the Lord appeared before the shepherds and told them the good news. And suddenly a multitude of heavenly host praised God saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good will toward men . But they were simple village folks who were mere shepherds and naturally they were excited about what they saw and heard. But even before that, a bright star was already seen in the countries of the East. The people were puzzled at it. Only three wise men understood the meaning of it. They were from different countries. But they were determined to undertake the arduous journey as a pilgrimage to worship the new born King! They set out on camels looking at the star for guidance. And the star led them to Bethlehem! Researchers are of the opinion that they are known as Melchior from Persia, Caspar from India and Baalthasar from Babylon. They went to Herod the king and told him about the star and asked him for the new born King of the Jews, so that they might worship him! But Herod was not only confused but bewildered and afraid of what he heard. The wise men were again led by the star to the manger where Jesus was born. They fell down and worshipped Him. They opened their treasures and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh! This is a wonderful event! The birth of Jesus was already proclaimed in the far east at the time of his birth. And today the entire world rejoices his birth! Dr. G. Johnson.
