A Tacit Capitulation Capitulate: cease to resist an opponent or an unwelcome demand; surrender. That describes the mood shown by a very large sector of the Nigerian population otherwise how else can you relate the implied acceptance of the brazen display of a gross misuse of public funds exemplified by some obnoxious items in the budget presented by Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala? How much food does the president eat really and how many Jets does he need to fly to the North East to show empathy with Nigerians there enmeshed in the fight against Boko Haram or isnt that why he needs those jets? Oh, I forgot. That isnt on the itinerary... yet! While workers salaries have not been paid for months through the Christmas holidays some Governors who are withholding those salaries are able to donate millions of state funds to the presidents political campaign and we are able to find people comfortable with this? Remarkable! It seems many have capitulated to the unwelcome demand for ill gotten wealth! Few seem to be resisting this opponent called corruption anymore!
