A Temptation of Angels - Michelle Zink Goodreads book information: Even angels make mistakes in this page-turning epic romance When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world’s past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel. I found this book oddly good. Like I stated in a previous post, I don’t like books set in the past, I like them to be more in the present time. Specifically I prefer books that I was alive in the time frame of the story. All Around I give this book 3 stars. I loved how Helen and Griffin ended up together in the end. But I didn’t like how things ended with Raum. I’m not, however, sure how else you would end it. As they say, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I am also not pleased that Darius and Helen weren’t shown making a better connection, bonding better. I think they should have had some big break through and become friends before the book ends. Also the beginning is confusing. It makes it seem like Griffin and Darius are older then they actually are, and you don’t actually find out their actual more accurate age until about halfway through the book. When I started this book I envisioned Griffin and Darius as older men, starting to gray, and that is not even close to their age. I do also wish it would have gone a little deeper into what a Keeper ACTUALLY does, and what Helen’s job as the Key Holder actually is. It gives you no insight into why these people do what they do, or how they do it. Which would have made the book better if you were let into the secret of what the Keepers are supposed to do to keep the world spinning. Which is what I interpreted that their job was. Finally it said in the information that their was a forbidden love. If they are talking about Raum, I don’t see how that actually qualifies as forbidden, because they never really had anything. It was always Helen and Griffin, which I never saw as forbidden. There wasn’t a whole lot that was supposed to be forbidden about it except that Darius wasn’t super excited that they wanted to be together, but he accepted it and didn’t protest much. ~Lexi~
