A Tour of William Morriss Red House: Day 7 Moving up the glorious oak staircase at Red House youll pass a corridor on your left leading to a guest bedroom, carry on up a few more steps and you have graced the first floor landing. Before entering the Drawing Room we walk down the first floor corridor and look back: the door ways in Red House are narrow for a house built in the Victorian era. Doorways then were wide to accommodate hooped crinoline skirts but the women at Red House wore flowing mediaeval style dresses. To your left is a round window over looking the wishing well and gardens: upon this window is painted Williams personal motto, the modest Si Je Puis If I Can, well, he certainly could.
