A West Bromwich man has appeared in court charged with an assault in Sandwell Valley Park at around 5am on Friday (23 August). Johnathon Kendall was charged with one count of wounding and appeared at Warley Magistrates Court on the following day (24 August). The 30-year-old, from Hallam Street, West Bromwich, was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 4 November. We were called to reports that a man had been slashed with a knife and officers investigating the alleged attack want to hear from anyone with information about what happened. Detectives are particularly keen to speak with a jogger who spoke to the victim of the incident shortly after 5am. Officers will continue to routinely patrol Sandwell Park and would ask anyone with any concerns to contact them. If you were in the area and saw anything suspicious contact police on 101 - or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
