A Wicked story. If you read the little history story I posted yesterday, you might already know a little of this story, if you havent read it, I suggest doing so. Not long after Ashley and I started talking (not dating, just talking) we got on the subject and the discussion turned to musicals and I mentioned I went an watched WICKED The Musical and was going again, in San Antonio. She said she wanted to go to see it too and I told her I would take her and buy her ticket, remember, this was before we even began dating, it was like the first day we started talking. Back then I was living with my parents and had no bills, I could save money like it was no ones business. We started dating not long after and I told her I was going to take her with me to see the show. She knew before we left that I was planning on asking her to marry me, I let her help choose the ring. She didnt know when and where I was going to do it though. My plan was to ask her at the end of the song As Long as Youre Mine, I listened to the song a 100 times (or very nearly) to make sure I would remember when to do it. This part of the story, Ashley never let me live down... Throughout the whole song I was playing with her hand, to make sure I would put it on the correct finger when it came time, she even asked me what I was doing, lol... When the time came, I timed it right, I picked up her hand, started sliding the ring on and she goes youre putting it on the wrong finger. Yup, after messing with her had for almost five minutes, to get it correct, I still did it wrong. When I finally got it right, she said yes. As Long as Youre Mine became our song, I had it as her ringtone and it was the first song we danced to at our wedding. We went to New Orleans a few months after our wedding and saw the show again, we pretended it was our honeymoon (we didnt have money to go anywhere the night of the wedding) but I think the show was closer to a anniversary. Saturday night, we started talking about the music that would be played at her funeral, I told them I didnt care what music they played as long as they played As Long as Youre Mine. It was the second song played. My dad was sitting beside me and grabbed my hand, I dont know how I made it through the song without completely losing it. I made it all the way to the final viewing, then my dad walked to her, took the flower that he bought for her out of her hands and gave them to me, after that, I could hardly hold it together. The song started playing again after everything was over, I was still sitting down, I didnt make it through the song a second time without crying. Ive set her tonight and listened to the song about six times, same with Dancing in the Sky, and Ive listened to Fly to the Angels, by Slaughter, which was the song Haddie Belle wanted, which was played at the grave yard and we release blue balloons (Ashleys favorite color) afterwards. This has been the worst week of my life, Im both glad and sad that its over. Its hard to believe Ill never get to see her face-to-face again. I watched the slideshow at the church over and over and couldnt stop watching it, even when the service was going, and still couldnt get over how beautiful she was. Even though shes gone, Ill never let her go.
