A Win for Wolves, but the Battle Goes On Gray wolf The U.S. Fish - TopicsExpress

A Win for Wolves, but the Battle Goes On Gray wolf The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has just suspended the independent scientific review of the wolf delisting proposal in order to deal with criticisms, from the Center for Biological Diversity and others, that top wolf scientists had been excluded from the process. Just last week three top wolf researchers were cut from the review process for signing a letter questioning the delisting proposal. This move makes it clear that politics and pandering to special interests, not science, are driving this proposal to strip Endangered Species Act protection from nearly all wolves in the lower 48 -- just as populations are starting to recover after 40 years of management. The federal government needs to get the message: The plan to delist is unethical, unscientific and premature. It will cruelly hurt and kill wolves, go against public opinion, ignore science, and break the law.
