A World Cup winner in 2002, Edmilson also believes Spain are a level above Brazil and are favourites to win the World Cup due to their superior playing style. The former Barcelona star admitted that he did not agree with bigger nations who naturalise players from other countries when they have enough quality to choose from. “I think a country with less tradition and less quality, yes, I could understand. But for a national team like Spain who has a massive quantity of great players to sign or naturalise a player to compete in a World Cup? I wouldn’t do it.” While Brazil hammered Spain 3-0 in last summer’s Confederations Cup Final, Edmilson firmly believes that Spain’s style puts them a step above his nation as favourites to win the tournament. “Spain are ahead of Brazil because they have a more beautiful style of football,” he stated on Onda Cero.
