A Young ANC combatant introduced me to Tracy Chapman. She was my student in a foreign country. I had seen the suffering - and chosen peaceful resistance - as battered bodies convinced me that there has to be another way - whatever the cost. She had seen the suffering and chosen the way of the gun. We met two sisters - respecting each other - both mourning our lost innocence! We made each other proud in our different ways. And yet the revolution - a peaceful revolution - is as pertinent today as it was then - as human rights are violated both in racist democracies and in the lack of democracy!
