A beautiful ending to a not-so-great week. Team Central sat in the gold position until the last 8 miles of the race, where every single one of us vetted out. Along with Nino, 11 out of 18 horses were given treatment after the race. Until Nino "bonked" at 67 miles, we were set up to finish strong. But...On Saturday night, it was announced that DJB Brave Heart had won the Horsepower Award, a special award that chooses 1 horse out of ALL the disciplines that represents courage, strength, and a winning spirit. I am honored to be his trainer and campaigner, this little horse inspires me every day.
