A big thank you to Terry Badal friends and family: for raising funds through #TeamForLifes “Create Your Own” event for Lazarex Cancer Foundation and the Terry Badal memorial bench maintenance fee. They held “bench walk” this year on Sunday, October 5th, everyone wore the Lazarex “#IHateCancer” t-shirts. In the words of Karen Badal Hacker: We partnered with Lazarex Cancer Foundation for an annual event in honor of our brother, Terry Badal, who passed away on October 31, 2012 from a rare type of bone cancer. Our hope was to provide awareness and support for Lazarex Cancer Foundation as well as to raise funds to maintain the park bench that Erika Badal (Terry’s wife) had dedicated and placed on the Las Trampas trail overlooking Mt. Diablo. The Contra Costa Parks department requires an ongoing fee to maintain and keep the bench in place, so our plan is to have an annual “Bench walk” on the closest Sunday to October 6th (Terry’s birthday) in his honor in order to raise enough funds to keep the bench maintained indefinitely. Last year, we had a bench dedication walk and we are hopeful each year more and more will attend. It was a beautiful day to honor my brother, share stories and get together with family and friends.
