A big week in Communication Studies this week. Our seniors present their year-long Capstone presentation on behalf of CityTeam. Three different projects will be presented in Freedom Hall on the Widener main campus at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. ALL ARE WELCOME AND INVITED! Then our new advisory board from across the US meets for the first time later on Friday. . .Check out this impressive list of folks who have worked or work for the White House, CBS Sports Network, Fox Studios, California, WHYY-TV, NBC Sports, ESPN, Digital PR agencies. . . Widener University’s Communication Studies Advisory Board, 2014 David Almacy is a 1992 graduate of Widener University, where he earned a B.A. in Business Management and Marketing. He is a Senior Vice President at Edelman, the world’s largest public relations agency. He is based in Washington DC. Prior to joining Edelman’s Washington D.C. office, Almacy served as the White House Internet and E-Communications Director under President George W. Bush. Lindsay Brady is a 2008 Widener Communication Studies graduate. She is an Executive Producer for Big Spaceship Digital and Interactive Advertising and Marketing Agency in Brooklyn, NY. Prior to joining Big Spaceship, Brady was an Associate Producer with BBDO Atmosphere in New York. Matt Broscious is a 1997 graduate of Elizabethtown College with a B.A. in Communications. He is the Executive Vice President and PR Lead with Brian Communications in Conshohocken, PA. Prior to his position with Brian Communications, Broscious was Vice President of Tierney Communications. Rachel Chizmadia is a 2008 Widener Communication Studies graduate. She is a Unit Manager of CBS Sports Network in New York. Prior to her current position, Chizmadia was a Graphics Manager with CBS Sports Network. While at Widener, she earned a 4.0 grade point average. Sam Edmiston is a 2006 Widener Communication Studies graduate. He is a free-lance television technician, working primarily for NBC Sports and ESPN. He has worked on location at numerous professional, collegiate and amateur sporting events, including the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Doug Ferguson is a 1999 Widener Communication Studies graduate and also earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Widener. He is the Director of Alumni Programs at Delaware County Community College. He previously served as Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Widener. Adam Gattuso is a 2000 graduate of Bloomsburg University, with a B.A. in Communications. He is the Government Affairs and Communications Leader with Monroe Energy in Trainer, PA. In 2011, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett named Gattuso a Regional Office Director. Hal Haenel is a 1981 graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, with a B.A. in Film. He is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Studio Operations at 20th Century Fox in Los Angeles. Prior to work at Fox, Haenel was Vice President and General Manager of Studio Operations at Hollywood Center Studios. Haenel is also an Olympic Gold and Silver medal winner in sailing. Jason Haitkin is a 2001 Widener Communication Studies graduate. He has produced several music videos and was Producer and Writer for the FUSE-TV show Metal Asylum. He was also Co-executive Producer of the Metal Band show Uranium. Subsequently, Haitkin has moved on to real estate pursuits. He currently rents properties in New York City. Tracey Matisak is a 1985 graduate of Temple University, with a B.A. in Journalism. She has been named a distinguished alumnus of Temple. She is host of Widener’s Philadelphia Speakers Series following an extensive career in broadcast journalism. She also spearheads numerous projects as a member of WHYY Philadelphia’s news team. Nikki Corrine Thomas is a 2005 Widener Communication Studies graduate. She is the Marketing Director and Patient Recruit Specialist for Suburban Research in Media, PA. Prior to joining Suburban, Thomas was the Morning News Anchor for KTVF-TV in Fairbanks, AK. Amber Winans is a 1999 graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. She is the Managing Director of Bahava Communications, a PR and Marketing agency in the San Francisco Bay area. Prior to her position with Bahava, Winans was Director of Corporate Communications for BakBone Software.
