A birthday memory -- penned by our proprietor Clayton Korver... My wife Deb surprised me with a birthday dinner on the beach at Christopher’s at Hermosa Cove on Saturday, October 25. Torches lit, candles on the table, listening to waves quietly lapping the beach ... it was wonderful. Sitting there with our cocktails -- it was absolutely the perfect end to a perfect day that included a driftwood hunting expedition down to Robin’s Bay, where we loaded up a truck full of “treasures” for future work at Hermosa Cove. But back to sitting at Christopher’s beach… The two thatched gazebos at the end of the two stone piers were both set for private dinners as well. Guests were well into their dining experience. I asked Romaine (our server) who they were and he shared that they were celebrating their 20th anniversary. Hearing it was a special occasion we asked to have a complimentary bottle of wine delivered to celebrate. Coming back after a couple of minutes we were told they did not drink wine but would enjoy a blended frozen tropical drink. Romaine created one of his specialties. After the couple finished they stopped by our table to introduce themselves. We were privileged to meet Ronald & Sarah Reynolds from Maryland. In the conversation we learned they had been to Jamaica 20 years ago and had decided to return this year for their 20th anniversary. Curious as to how they found us, they shared they were looking for a quiet private place and the reviews they saw convinced them this was the place. They shared this comment when asked about what they enjoy the most at Hermosa Cove. “There are so many things. This is the best resort we have ever stayed at. The food and Chef Conroy are the best; he comes to greet us at every meal. We love the service. The resort is intimate and private and is exactly what we were looking for in this vacation. The gardens are beautifully maintained and we will definitely come back.” That made this birthday boy feel good! Just another day in our little parcel of paradise.
