Nairobi County police commander Benson Kibui said that Mr John Kigoi Nduati, the presiding bishop of Gods Power Church and Ministry, was driving from Thika to Njiru when he was blocked by a white Toyota Probox with four occupants at Mwiki at around 8pm. He was pushed to the back seat of his car and later abandoned in Mihango, Kayole after they robbed him of the cash and his Ceska pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition. Pastor Nduati who once described his church as ‘the last hospital in Africa’ claimed that he could heal Aids victims. He had in the past gone to court and complained that his estranged wife, Dorcas Mugure Kamau, had been harassing him after their marriage was dissolved by a court of law in 2010.
