A bit late to this post , so hello to everyone. A little about me , why the Marathon and why the charity. my life seems to involve around my profession , Im a copper, Mr plod, Policeman. I have been fighting my own demons on and off , and ten hours sat in front of a computer , shift work coupled with a 1st class canteen , and a cigarette , meant my doctor was right , obese , 95 kilos , xxlarge clothes not fitting , not good. The stop smoking part was easy, move from the ground floor to the 18th ,didnt have the time to wander outside. A chance talk with a colleague and a former Royal Marine, saw us do the London to Brighton cycle event in 2013 with that became a bit of positive mindset, and the opportunity to move out of my comfort zone , and start dealing with some of the demons in my head , and the negative thought process that prevails. One of my sergeants picked up on this , and so began the Dailey trip to the gym, now when I joined the job in 1990 , one of the requirements was to run a mile and a half in under 12 minutes. An office sweepstake was set , for a two month period , from December 2013 to January 2014 , with a guess my weight after training , my colleagues obviously had faith in me , as most bet on a 6 kilo increase lol In that two month period , I lost 5 kilos , and dropped a dress size lol. Then I moved outside to run, ouch , what a difference ,who ever !said raise the treadmill by a couple of percent to simulate , was clearly wrong , it was like starting to run again. The sweepstake came and went , what next for motivation ? Run the marathon said my mate , after he had bought me my 5th pint. Ok I said. Official lottery place, no chance, Met Police official place , no chance, taking to friends , lots of support, it takes years to get a place Demons were back with a vengeance , the only difference was the anger was being lost in the running, perhaps not the best way to run , but it worked for me 24 hours before the official, closure, out of the blue , another charity said , crunch org, a phone call to them , and the 1 charity they mentioned . Psp , after taking a long list of other charities , it came back to the 1st choice. I had never heard of psp , and neither had some six hundred of my colleagues , but they have now , six hundred A5 posters for my charity night this Friday , 28 march . Details on the main psp Facebook page. As for the race , 4 1/2 hours would be nice , probably closer to 5 who knows Karl
