A bit lengthy but well worth a watch. It is unbelievable the attack that Police Officers, military personnel, firefighters, teachers etc are under for their pensions. These are the folks that literally are giving life & limb to protect, teach and keep safe our country & future generations of our country. The least we can do, is stand behind them and support their pensions which are NOT a burden to our country. Firefighters spend 1/3rd of their working lives away from their families, this number is increased even more when you add in overtime. This means they miss countless holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, children being born, first recitals and many other important events throughout their working life. If you go to a firehouse you will see the toll a 25-30 year career has on a Firefighters body. You will see the physical toll the job takes on you. (take a look at the senior man, as they grimace from lower back pain or bad knees or some other ailment from getting up & down out of fire trucks, lifting heavy ladders, pulling cumbersome hoses or carry heavy equipment around for 30 years.) Youll see the physiological changes on the body after 25-30years of messed up sleep schedules, 1am, 2am, 3am etc medical & fire calls. There are also the emotional changes a firefighter, police officer and military personnel have to live with due to all the things they are exposed to throughout a career, that the average person cannot even fathom. These plans for the most part are healthy and paid for by the firefighters, police officers, military personnel and teachers that earn then. It is billionaires that will benefit from these public employees being put into defined contribution plans that spread all the lies and propaganda against pensions for these hard working workers. So before you jump on board with the crowd that wants to take away this hand out take a look at this video & remember Firefighters, police officers, military personnel & teachers etc earn their pensions over a 25-30yr career and also pay a significant amount into these plans.
