A bunch of people just shared this article, which basically states that Ello HAS to sell out at some point because it was funded by venture capital. Even if its doomed to sell out at some point, thatll take a fair amount of time, and its worth it to demonstrate that Facebooks tactics wont be blindly accepted. Jumping ship to Ello, even if its not a forever-solution, demonstrates to any future would-be successors that no social network has too much of a foothold to just do whatever it wants. If/when Ello does sell out, itll be just as easy to abandon ship on that network in favor of the next promising thing. With tech-related biz, theres no such thing as a forever-solution. Besides, do people think that robust social networks can be financially supported by dreams and magic and promises? If users want an ad-free service that doesnt sell their information, and isnt supported by venture capital, how exactly do you expect to keep the servers running and development happening?
