A canoe is set to be the new form of transport for a former pupil - TopicsExpress

A canoe is set to be the new form of transport for a former pupil of St Margarets Academy. Laura Neesam is hoping to raise £2,000 to help local communities in Ecuador, and will be heading there next June with Volunteer Eco Students Abroad programme for a volunteering development project. She will have to travel to work each morning via canoe to an inaccessible indigenous community. The project will involve providing remote villages with fresh water, restoring the local primary schools, teaching English to primary school children and/or building bathrooms for those without access to such basic necessities. Laura took part in a development project similar to this in Malawi in June 2013 with many others from the school, and she regularly volunteers with Guide Dogs. My dream is to travel the world, said Laura, but also give something back and this is a perfect start to my ambition. I need to raise £2,000 before April 2015, and any donations will be massively appreciated. Laura has set up a page for receiving donations at the link below: youcaring/mission-trip-fundraiser/volunteer-project-ecuador-2015/243627#.VDBaoZi-5GA.facebook
