A client of mine was unable to open docs from My Documents folder and the click to buy option or enter the product code screen appeared. The problem was overcome by going into Word or Excel to open. I had even downloaded Libre Office as a freebee. It was discovered that it was a Windows update that was the culprit KB2589275 And has uninstalled this and also the Office 2010 that was downloaded during the update in Sept 2013, leaving the original installed 2011 and hey presto.
