A community member needs some guidance: I am desperately in need of some suggestions. My 93 year old mom fell a little over a month ago. She hit her head and developed a subdural hematoma which is diminishing. She actually became more of herself after the fall. She had been very much showing signs of dementia prior to the fall. She is now on a walker when she had been using a cane and i must escort her everywhere. She had physical therapy and was deemed a textbook case in terms of her progress. The trouble is, she will NOT do the exercises cooperatively with ME! She refuses to believe that there are certain things she can no longer do. She will get out of bed or her chair and walk without her walker. She may be doing the exercises well but she is very fragile and unstable in her gait. i cant sleep, go to the bathroom, or anywhere else, without fearing that she will just get it into her head to do something without my assistance. Ive placed posters in the bathroom and on her bedroom dresser telling her NOT to stand without assistance and to call me when she awakens or when shes done on the stool. She does it anyway. When I asked her if she sees, has read, and understands the poster, she just calmly says yes and states that she just HAS to do something for herself! Im so afraid of another fall. She may have recovered from her fall, but Im still a wreck! Please help! Thanks in advance
