A computer programmer in New York got off work to find that his bicycle was stolen. Both locks were cut and his bike of over 14 years was gone. Stephen Arthur had heard that Joe Biden was going to be speaking in the Sheraton, which is exactly where he parks his bike every day, right out front. So, knowing this was the case and seeing the new barricaded area out front he immediately suspected the NYPD broke his locks and stole his bike. After going to the police station, they told him to go back to the Sheraton and ask the police there. There, he was informed that an employee from the Sheraton had seen them breaking the locks on the bike and asked them to leave the bike in his hands, so that he could give it to the owner who he sees parking his bike there every day. Luckily for Arthur, the police obliged the man, Richard Martinez, and also lucky for Arthur that Martinez is a trustworthy person. In what world does it make sense to move a bicycle off of the street to protect the vice president. What is the potential security threat? This is where I would love to have extra time and money to sue both the police and the federal government. I can wrap my brain around why they would want no cars parked on the street, because of bombs or suspicious people or whatever, but unless there is something I do not know about bicycles, there is no reason that this could harm Biden, unless he, like, tripped on it or something? The other unfathomable part of this story is that the police stole a bike, and some guy says, “hey, I will keep that for this guy, I know him or whatever”, and the police gave it to him. What if this guy just wanted a free bike? Then Arthur would be screwed with no reasonable explanation. Such is the case with an overbearing government.
