A conservative reporter alleges that in a pre-dawn raid, the Feds took her files while searching her home for a toy potato gun. Audrey Hudson, Washington correspondent for the Colorado Observer, thinks the government may have an ulterior motive for conducting the search. In her first television interview, Hudson told Gretchen Carlson on The Real Story that the raid stems from her husband purchasing a potato launcher online five years ago. The search warrant presented said they came to recover the gun. However, she said, “Once they were in the house, the first thing that the Homeland Security officer asked me was Are you the same Audrey Hudson who wrote all of the Federal Air Marshal stories for The Washington Times?” Hudson claims she was targeted for stories that were critical of the agency and revealed that they lied to Congress. She said she didn’t realize they had taken her confidential files until a month later when she received a phone call telling her to pick them up. Youve Opened Our Eyes: Huckabee Talks to Teen Who Faced Unthinkable Bullying When Hudson questioned why the government had the Federal Air Marshal files, she was told they needed to run them by the TSA to make sure it was legitimate for her to have them. “They came into my house, they stole my notes, they’ve exposed my sources.” The Coast Guard said in a statement: “The documents were reviewed with the source agency and determined to be obtained properly through the Freedom of Information Act. The CG employee was notified that the documents were cleared and the CG employee picked them up after signing for the documents.” The Washington Times is pursuing legal action. It was clearly intimidation, Hudson said. We cant just have the government coming into your house on a minor warrant and walking out with whatever files they please.
