A conundrum exists on how to fix income inequality. It seems the liberal government approach is take from the big earners and spread the wealth. Keep doing that and when that money runs out... what then? An old metaphor states: Give fish to the poor everyday so they can eat, keeps them dependent upon the feeder. Why not teach them how to fish, so they can feed themselves, and develop a sense of independence and pride. Obama, in his SOTUS, mentioned training programs to teach trades and skill. That would be a good start in creating self sufficiency - certainly better than the liberal compulsion to ever care for the poor. If poor people want to elevate themselves out of poverty, a higher minimum wage is not the answer. How do they elevate themselves after that? In order to raise higher compensation for their efforts... they must learn how to make themselves economically valuable to society, and abandon the government invented notion of victim mentality - and that government is supposed to, and will, take care of them. I am not talking about unemployment insurance or emergency welfare support. Im talking about changing negative social attitudes by creating a willingness to work hard, and smart, in realizing opportunities while working towards success. Read Dr. Ben Carsons article:
