A councillor recently went to the pulpit and started to make jokes and scoff about those who believe Democracy is Kufr. A respected brother I know pointed out to him that everything we see today was built buy the Muslims hard earned cash, sacrifice and unity, not the divisive ever-fluctuating loyalties and under the table deals of councillors and politicians. Anyway.. Ill tell you the truth about this on the grassroots level. Most people havent got a clue who these councillors are, the seem to only show up in the Masjid during election time. So they need people with grassroots support to get the access to people, babies to kiss, that sort of thing... So the court community figures, mosque committees, youth associations for publicity in return for favours like funding, planning permission, that sort of thing... These politicians are used to sucking up to those they are in need of, and talking down to those they perceive are in need of them. Ive seen it with my own eyes...walk in with an influential figure and watch the british muslim politician salivate. So when they come across a youth organisation leader, or a community figure who believe Rizq is from Allah (سبحانه وتعالي) and that making laws is best left to Al-Hakam awl-Hakeem (The Judge and the All-Wise) the councillor becomes confused..he is neither someone to suck up to , nor is he someone in need of him. He just doesnt understand it, its like the well dressed house negro who could not understand why the field negro in rags would prefer to stay in rags.
