A couple days I made a post about the Hong Kong protests and how they used technology to push for democracy. I was left curious though, how did they coordinate such a peaceful and positive protest? How did everyone know to clean-up after themselves and be non-violent? Well, it turns out they had coordinated online and everyone was given a handbook of conduct for the protests. The handbook was submitted virally to ensure a few bad seeds didnt spoil it for everyone. The document includes really positive information including Civil disobedience is to win over hatred with love. I was able to find the handbook online after a little bit of research. This is what everyone was given prior to hitting the streets. Really profound! My main issue with protests is that they dont have organizing principles or clear terms for what they want in place of whats in charge. This is a revolution of how we create revolutions. oclp.hk/index.php?route=occupy/eng_detail&eng_id=28
