A couple of further interesting tidbits emerged from my meetings with the BC Lions 1994 Grey Cup champions. As you recall, I was beat the reporter for The Province during their fantastic series of wins. Players told me the team was amazingly dysfunctional. Full of egos, foibles, complaints, gripes, players who werent staring wanting to start. I once heard coach Dave Ritchie ream a guy over just such a thing. Its the sort of stuff that comes out 20 years after the fact. The players said one defensive back refused to put his helmet on during practice and watched his cover assignments stroll by. Drove the coaches nuts. Incidentally, some of these players were among the best in the game. Go figure.
