A couple of weeks ago I bought a Windows based solid state laptop with an ultra hi rez 13 inch screen. The thing is lightening fast and images look fantastic. A problem is when I run Photoshop the icons are tiny (which I can live with since Im so familiar with the program I could use it blindfolded. (Some people would say that is how I use a camera too). The real problem is the file info box opens with slivers of unusable space to add caption info. From online research Ive learned that Adobes software will not work properly on ultra high rez 13 inch or smaller Windows based screens. Lowering the screen rez wont help. Aside from looking crappy, the file info box is still unusable. Neither Microsoft nor Adobe is a working on a fix to this problem. At some point Adobe might have to come up with a solution since these high rez Windows machines are becoming more common. But we are not there yet. One recommended solution from the forum people is to switch to PaintShop Pro X6, which is Windows based and works great on Windows high rez screens. They say the program does much of what Photoshop does (and I dont need to do everything Photoshop does, since Im not making elephants disappear). They also say lots of photogs are switching over from Photoshop rather then join the monthly/yearly Adobe rental plan. Thoughts?
