A cracking morning out at Rutland Water promoted by our friends at Inspire2tri. We arrived at 8:30am, ready for a swim in the creek with James, Glynn, Adam and Tracy already there. A quick sign-on with Marys team on hand to help novices get into a wetsuit; this was Waynes first open water experience and [in his words] he loved it - well done Wayne. Davids first time at Rutland and he wished hed swum further - theres always next time Dave, gotta get value for money out of that swanky new BlueSeventy wetsuit! Martin and Karl did a few laps with an [as we found out later] unplanned race down the back straight at one point, after they both said afterwards...yeah, I had some clever dick trying to race me to the third buoy; Im not sure who won - lets call it a draw! :-) Tracy [who used to struggle with Open Water - what do you mean you cant see the line along the bottom?] also had a cracking swim out - well done Tracy, those fears are long gone! So after a cracking swim and a, lets just say leisurely transition, we were met by Blake [who is yet to lose his Open Water virginity] and it was out onto the bikes for 50k around the lanes south of the reservoir. Adam was especially pleased not to be dragged around the Dambuster course....we dont do main roads Adam....lanes for us all the way (well apart from that 100m stretch of the A47 - call it TT training) I have to say, it was a cracking ride...you know when you come around a corner and.....wow....look at that, it was like that for the whole 2 hours (pictures attached), and we saw a few really nice birds. A recovery coffee and cake afterwards and it was off home to watch the tennis.....the cycling....the F1? That sports not going to watch itself! Great morning out Beavers, cant wait for the next away day!
