A few months ago, I met an elderly gentlemen in the magistrate court waiting area. He was finishing his hearing. As he informed me, “ He had just got home late one evening and heard his wife screaming in their house”. He runs around the back of the house to enter to a room to where he had a pistol. Two young men had entered the house through the garage and proceeded to attack and harass his wife. With his defensive gun in hand he chased after the men back through his garage and through his yard. He stopped at the edge of his yard and fired one shot into the ground. Since the two had cleared his yard, he only intended to scare them hoping they would not return again. WHY WAS HE IN COURT? CORRECT !!… As he further informed me, that between an attorney (he had to hire) and the magistrate he was more than $1,800.00 in the hole and was yet to find out what other costs he may be facing. And within the last few days, those same two men had walked up and down the road where he lived and taunted him and his wife….
