A few months ago, I parted ways from the company that I put an indescribable amount of my sweat and tears into creating. While it was a painful departure, I was prompted to rethink some of my most fundamental values and a clean slate to re-imagine the kind of life I want to lead. I was directionless for many months until hearing about the Strategic Foresight and Innovation program at OCAD U, and that a spot opened up way after the application deadline when someone dropped out. Having been in this program for about three weeks, I am extremely thankful to be here. Its everything I ever wanted in a career: tying my passion for people, creativity, and drive to change things. This evening, I attended the first class for U of Ts newest experimental program that Im enrolled in: Creating Life Science Products - a project-based class taught by an investment-banker-turned-academic where students from engineering, biotech, law, business, and design come together to create innovations in partnership with established pharma and biotech firms. Having heard from many perspectives, by far the most challenging and critical part of success in any business (and where companies make the most mistakes) is figuring out what people want. Guess what - thats exactly what my program at OCAD is designed to do. This #entrepreneurship thing - lets go round 2. TL;DR I constantly get out of my comfort zone.. Once you push yourself into something new, and whole new world of opportunities opens up. But you might get hurt. In fact you WILL get hurt. But amazingly when you heal - you are somewhere youve never been. - Terry Crews
