A few weeks after the night of the planes, the towers, the loss of life, the utter tragedy of what the world must now become, I took a walk. I went and told my doctor I was pregnant. Never did a test. I just felt pregnant and he took my word on the Im pregnant bit. When the midwife came to see me, she got out her computer and ALL I remember of that visit is when we got to the page about any drug misuse issues. I can remember the layout of the page. Three reallyreally long columns of various substances. The sun was pouring in the window and I refocused, in a great epiphany moment mixed with shock and awe at life, I turned to her and said, All of them. I have taken the lot at some point in my life. I was VERY matter of fact. Why Lie? Well, I will miss out one or two as that doesnt look so bad, she told me. I SAY AGAIN,WHY LIE!
