A few words on Iyanla: Fix My Life. Presently, there is a wonderful series with Iyanla Vanzant on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network! It has allowed the men to speak their truth and for others to understand. It has allowed them the opportunity to heal and not pass their reaction to hurt and pain from their parents to their children and loved ones. For the parents - we have to forgive them for many did not know, understand or care about the effect they would have on their children. Many parents were hurting - some for what has been done to them. As a child development specialist I have seen how parents interactions with their child may stunt the childs growth in many areas, in particular Social - Emotional Skills. Many times that is where you need to start with the child and if you can the parents. I wish all success in their healing and finding their truth. It is not easy, but it can be done. Stay blessed.
