A folklore is told , where the spider asked the hare to take him on a journey to his in-laws. Spider happened to have married from heaven. One of the strong points was the ability to create the pathway to heaven by the use of the silk strings produced by him. So he dutifully provided access to heaven where they were accommodated in an apartment adjacent to .a goat shed. As is the norm, they were to be fed and entertained and fed as benefiting their esteemed status. The hare began to have ideas. In the home of the in-laws, they would only be called guests and not in-laws, as this was the norm in a hospitable tradition . So taking advantage of this small window, the hare said Any food or drinks brought for the account of this in-laws shall all be yours my brother for that is rightfully meant for you. Then he went on, Any food that is brought for the account guests shall be mine The spider, feeling honoured by his kind companion gullibly agreed. Your guess is as good as mine. All goody goodies came for the account of guests. The chief guest, Mr spider went to sleep on an empty stomach. The drama and impunity did not end there . The hare in the dead of the heavenly night and peace crept into the goat pen, slaughtered the choices of the goats and feasted on them all. To spite the spider more, as he slept, towards the morning he took remnants of blood and smeared it all over the spiders chicks and lips and stealthily crept back to sleep. The heavenly hosts wwoke up to a depleted flock and glaring evadence of the loss of the numbers. Mr. Spider would need to explain as the articulate hare gave the false witness account of the same and you can imagine the shame and indignation. Given that they would spend the night and leave the next day, the ordeal of food had to continue and spider would have to endure another day of starvation a midst the plenty. In the wee hours of the morning, the spider decided he had had enough. He did he bit of stretching the only way down to earth and it was easy as the weight was smaller and so were the numbers. Hare was left in heaven . But as Waswahili husema Aliye juu mngojee chini As was expected, the way down was bumpy and the thud not too easy on him. The rest is for another day.
