A former Jasper resident is in critical condition tonight at a Houston hospital after his plane caught fire in the air and crashed. Sixty-four year-old Alan Richard Crawford had just left an air race in Jasper when he contacted fellow pilots by radio to tell them his plane was on fire and he was going down.
