A former member of the House of Representatives and coordinator of the PDP Re-positioning Advocacy Group, Shehu Sale Hassan, has accused some frontline politicians in the party for being responsible for the current crisis rocking the party. Hassan said in a statement yesterday that although conflicts are normal in any organization, what is happening in PDP will not augur well for the country’s democracy. “We do believe that conflicts in organizations as large as the PDP are almost certainly and inevitable. They help bring to the fore relevant issues that make us fall short of our aspirations. However, we believe we must be both responsible and ethical in our approach. “As young people who believe in one Nigeria and a committed party members, we feel we cannot remain silent on issues we consider important. It is our considered opinion that a certain group of leaders have demonstrated a lack of will or capacity to give this nation a direction that would give it its true colour, one nation. “In this group are Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and indeed the current National Chairman Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. Our conviction should and must not be interpreted as a condemnation or denigration of these elders. We believe they have given their best to this great nation of ours. I believe we need their wisdom, if not their experience, but they must now give in to our youth and vigour,” he said. Hassan who represented Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency added that for the party to move forward, the youth must be given the opportunity to air their views and take mantle of leadership.
