A friend of mine posted this for her Veteran friend. He is in urgent need of assistance. Please read and share. Someone out there may know how to help! Fred Thomas shared a status. November 9 URGENT Facebook Friends! I need your help. I find myself embroiled with the Veterans Administration in a very long and protracted issue regarding EEO & Diversity and a counselor or supposed to be counselor for Vocational Rehabilitation. The first meeting with her she stated You are too old to get a job. and then left the room and came back with a file folder and stated You are too old to get a job so you need to start your own business. and threw the file folder on the conference table. It contained information on How to Start an Enterprise in the Philippines. I have no intention of starting a business here. Initially I filed a Congressional Complaint through Congressman John Campbells Office, 45th District in California. They were awesome and I did receive a response from the new Director of the Veterans Administration Manila Regional Office that did not address the complaint that I filed, but looked as if it had been written by the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to avoid responding to the specific complaint of Age Discrimination. I did some more research and filed an EEO & Diversity Complaint with the VA and know that complaint has made it to Manila. How do I know? The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor set up an appointment for us on October 31, 2013 at 9:00am. She spent the first hour of the meeting blasting me and denigrating me for filing an Age Discrimination Complaint, which in bureaucratic lingo is a Protected Action, which cannot be retaliated for or retribution taken. The Voc Rehab Counselor proceeded to place extremely restrictive conditions on the educational program I had developed and was only going to last 12 months of the 36 months I have available to me. She did make the statement that she was trying to find a way to dis-qualify me from Vocational Rehabilitation Program and said I could only take one class at a time and would have to take on-line courses, which due to two strokes are difficult for me because of the lack of a traditional school environment with lectures, demonstrations, notes taken and the ability to ask the instructor questions. The education program I developed was focused on Cyber Security. It provided classes with certifications that are recognized by the US Military and the National Security Agency to name a few of the organizations. This past Monday I was at the school and met a young man in the US Army who had been sent to the school from Afghanistan. I have been attempting to speak with and arrange an appointment with the Director of the VA Manila Regional Office and the Assistant Director, who is also the EEO & Diversity Officer and the immediate Supervisor of the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. I spoke to a person on Thursday who openly told me that I could quit calling because they would not talk with me about anything because of the complaints filed and the ongoing investigation. They would only accept correspondence in writing. It is my contention that they have Circled the Wagons to Protect Themselves and Everyone Involved and do not have the Veterans best interest at heart! Ultimately here is my problem: I am sitting here not able to move forward with my education. The VocRehab Counselor by setting restrictive and adverse conditions assured I could not attend school full time and thus would not be eligible for a long list of benefits under the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. I believe this was done in retaliation for filing an Age Discrimination Complaint for You are too old to get a job. I am hoping that someone here on Facebook is an attorney who would take my case for gross negligence and discrimination by the Veterans Administration and assist me in being able to get my educational program approved and completely funded and I could start school. I am not normally a litigious person, but this situation gives rise to experiencing the worst type of discriminatory conduct that a Federal Agency could do and considering it the Veterans Administration whose purpose is to assist our Great Countrys Veterans. I do not personally feel singled out and believe that there are other Veterans who have experienced similar things at the hands of Veterans Administration Staff who take great pleasure in denying the Veterans Benefits that have been earned and they are eligible for! Matter of fact their are studies that have been done that outline many of these situations. It is patently wrong! If any of you know anyone or have any advice I am certainly open. I have considered starting a Facebook page Veterans Administration - Send Fred Thomas to School and encourage people to like the page and also contact their Congressman and insist that their Veterans Liaison person contact the Congressional Liaison Office for the Veterans Administration and place pressure on the in my behalf. This is one of very few posts that I have made on FaceBook. I am openly sharing a problem I am experiencing in hopes that FaceBook Friends are truly that - friends. I need your help and respectfully ask that you please give my situation consideration and think of what simple thing you could do that would be a tremendous amount of help for me. Do you know someone in a position of authority and influence, can you call your Congressman on my behalf. What do you think of a Facebook page titled - Veterans Administration - Do the Right Thing and Send Fred Thomas to School. I am open to your suggestions. I wish this would go viral and be picked up by the major news networks, especially Fox. I believe the only way they are going to act in a speedy manner is from external pressure to do so. It is clear that the letter written on May 31, 2013 by the Secretary of the Veterans Administration, The Honorable Eric K. Shinseki on the Veterans Administrations EEO & Diversity Policy seems to only be window dressing and does not have any teeth or a real desire to act on it. HELP! Plea
