A friend sent me this story this morning (from her co-worker) If youve ever been waiting in line at the DMV, you can appreciate how awesome this is... Its been an eventful morning so far! My drivers license expired today so I got up early to go to the DMV. Thanks to budget cuts and political shenanigans, the DMV didnt open at 8, like I thought... it opened at 9. But a long line of us didnt know that. Yuck! People immediately started complaining about how hungry they were. So I queried the line and determined most people would like doughnuts. I headed out, got 2 dozen doughnuts, plus bagels and croissants and brought them back. As the line stretched around the building, I was able to give a doughnut to every third or fourth person in line. Every person who accepted one lit up like a Christmas tree. Determined to give back, one woman in line called her mother and put me on the phone with her. Her mother is a master reiki practitioner and I had my first ever reiki session. Then the employees of the DMV came outside to collect just those who had appointments. Regrettably, theyre so understaffed it takes 2 months to get an appointment. They were charmed I was giving away doughnuts (even though they arent allowed to accept) and they gave appointments to me and everyone in front of me in the regular line. Once inside, I learned Id need to take the written test. Yipes! I didnt study! I answered all the questions, then had a flash of intuition that one was wrong and changed it. It was a lucky save. Because of that change, I passed. Next, someone at the counter from another country was distraught. She was $3 short. I stopped by and just paid her DMV fees outright and of course gave her a doughnut. People were clapping, singing, cheering me on. Right as I was walking out of the DMV, their entire system went down. Im on my way to work peeps... lesson is... there is magic in the universe. Be kind and open and it can be yours.
