A frustrated advocate for shelter dogs that I dont know and have - TopicsExpress

A frustrated advocate for shelter dogs that I dont know and have never had any communication with voiced all of her frustration with me in an email. After contacting numerous rescues to take in a stray dog, she had had no luck. She went on to insinuate that me and 12 other rescues were liars and that she felt certain that she would see freedom ride posts the very next day of dogs that all of us had rescued. Well, we had a freedom ride today! Remmys rescue was planned LAST THURSDAY. The request from this individual came late last night. Things arent always as they seem, and for those who run rescues, every single one of us will be the first to say that something in the rescue changes every single day, and often without warning. We are all very committed to what we do, and God knows it is enormously stressful and risky because we generally know very little about the dogs we are pulling out of shelters. We get requests for dogs needing rescue who are on very borrowed time, and these requests come throughout the day. It is not a pleasant thing not being able to help, and it is not a pleasant thing having to say no when a life is at stake. WIth that, there is a level of guilt that follows us around 24/7. We do what we can, when we can, and we push the limits as much as our resources will allow for. I have had the pleasure of working with wonderful shelter advocates who are very, very honest people and will do whatever they can to help a rescue that is trying to help one of their shelter pets. You all know who you are and you are the lifeline to the very dogs we rescue.
