A giant earth crack has mysteriously opened up along the Costa de Hermosillo on August 15, 2014. Although social networkers believe it was created by an earthquake at the San Andres Fault, a geologist from the University of Sonora indicates that the ground has probably collapsed because of a stream of groundwater. The large earth crack has three perpendicular trenches, maybe from side streams that once flowed there. The soil in the area is very unstable which makes the investigations very difficult.
