A good intro. There are a couple of things Id tweak, but Turek is spot on here. Young people WILL lose their faith and adopt some form of skepticism or atheism soon after high school for a few reasons: 1) Parents are ill equipped to respond to their kids challenging questions. Note: I had a 7-year old ask me Who made God? And, she struggled with my 7-year-old answer to her. 2) Youth groups neglect addressing primary issues critical to maintaining faith. This happens regularly. Ive observed for years a focus on entertaining young people to the near exclusion of reinforcing faith. 3) Kids will be further assailed in college, both directly and indirectly. It is a connected cascade of the components to unbelief and skepticism that kids will encounter in college. If the kids arent clear on WHY the universe is created as opposed to spontaneously generated and evolved, the beliefs and behaviors that follow should be no surprise. Parents and high school juniors and seniors need to know why their Christian faith is reasonable. And, its not because the Bible says so.
