A gorgeous new film, Ghosts in Our Machine will have its New York and Los Angeles premieres on November 8 and November 15 respectively. I feel so honored to have been asked to moderate the Los Angeles November 15, Q&A with director Liz Marshall and photographer/protagonist Jo McArthur. There will be a red carpet and welcome with lots of our favorite actorvists at Beverly Hills Laemmle, and then an after-party at the fabulous new Sage Bistro and Beer Garden (vegan!) in Culver City. I sure would love to see some DawnWatch friends there and hope I am giving enough notice for those of you who sometimes like to come into LA for a weekend to do fun things. Re fun things: Ghosts in Our Machine isnt a barrel of laughs but nor is it gory and hard to watch. It is hauntingly beautiful. As actor James Cromwell has said, This is a masterful film. I think the tone is well summed up by this quote from Jo-anne, the protagonist: I truly believe that its innate, that were all compassionate and that if were given the opportunity to care, we will. The film follows Jo into some hellholes, but also to heavenly places such as New Yorks Farm Sanctuary and to the new homes of beagles who have been rescued from laboratories. We see that there is hope.
