A great day having lessons with Enlightened Equitation and Heather Moffett, an awesome classical dressage trainer and author of several books. Many of you know that I ride quite differently to the norm these days using mainly positive reinforcement, but Heather Moffetts teaching of the correct seat in terms of biomechanics and being as light as possible for the horse is just amazing and so important for the welfare of the horse. And her light but clear aids or, as we would call it in the behaviour business, behaviour cues is what is missing for so many traditional riders these days. But best of all, guess what, Heather also incorporates a sprinkling of positive reinforcement and clicker training into the mix. Although I will not be abandoning the work that I do using appetitives or reward based training, I am learning lots of important factors which will enhance my behaviour work no end! ;-)
