A group seeking to develop a massive gold-and-copper prospect near the headwaters of a world-premier salmon fishery in Alaska is suing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for taking steps that could prohibit development. The Pebble Limited Partnership, the group behind the proposed gold-and-copper prospect near Bristol Bay, says the EPA exceeded its authority in February when it took steps to prohibit development after concluding that large-scale mining in the Bristol Bay watershed posed significant risks to salmon. Pebble also says a veto of the project would be an unlawful revocation of the state of Alaskas right to allow for development on state lands. The proposed mine is on state lands. bit.ly/1lWrM9H #KTUU #Alaska #EPA
