If you’re not careful, the many get-togethers with food and drink in abundance can take a heavy toll – from fatigue to significant weight gain. During this time it is doubly important to watch what you eat and resist the temptation of that second helping of dessert. Karan Soni, Consultant at Aesthetic Diets, shares a diet plan that can help you stay healthy and energetic throughout the day. Start the day with proper hydrationThis special water recipe will cool you down and help keep you from getting dehydrated between dawn and dusk.First combine the following ingredients in a large pitcher:· » water (one litre)· » freshly grated ginger (one teaspoon)· » medium-sized cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced (one)· » medium-sized lemon, thinly sliced (one)· » small mint leaves (10)Let the pitcher stand overnight to allow the flavours to blend. Drink the whole concoction before you start the next day.Wake up for SuhoorEnjoy a slice of brown bread with peanut butter. Also help yourself to a serving of plain low-fat yoghurt with unsalted almonds and cinnamon powder.Lastly, make yourself a healthy smoothie out of these ingredients:· » ice (half a cup)· » blackberries and blueberries (one cup)· » plain low-fat yoghurt (half a cup)· » granola flax oats (20gms)· » skimmed milk (half a cup)Make time for IftarFirst have a litre of the special water as you did in the morning.
