A hooded man in a Southern California neighborhood attempted to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from her bedroom. He broke the screen from the window, instructed the little girl to come towards him, snatched her up when she was within reach, and took off running down the street with her in his arms. Fortunately for the toddler, the entire family had been in the house during the attempted kidnapping, and miraculously, the little girl’s father and uncle heard the commotion and were able to chase the kidnapper down the street before he got away with the child. “I actually ran behind him,” the girl’s uncle said. “I think he heard my footsteps and then he turned around quickly and asked me if this was my daughter.” The man then attempted to run away after handing the toddler over to the uncle but was quickly tackled and knocked to the ground by the father, who then restrained the man until law enforcement could arrive. “We didn’t think this would ever happen to her or us,” the girl’s aunt said. Deputy Joshua Dubin held a press conference on Friday morning, where he described the incident as “scary” but called the incident a “random kidnapping,” which had no connection between the family and the kidnapper. The man is currently being held in custody after being arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. This man should consider himself lucky. If he had tried to kidnap my child and got caught, he would’ve needed a ride in an ambulance, not a police vehicle!
